Citrine is a member of the quartz family varying in color from light, clear yellow through to a deeper amber tone due to the presence of aluminum. Its name comes from the Latin “citrus,” which means “citron,” a tree with lemonlike fruit. In general, the darker, orange shades of citrine are actually heat-treated amethyst, though it tends to carry the same metaphysical properties as natural citrine.
